It’s the 21st century, western civilization is the most prosperous civilization to ever walk the face of the earth. Life expectancy is constantly rising, technological advancement is exponential, the poorest in our society are not starving. In fact they are having an obesity epidemic.
Yet there are people screaming oppression, people calling for the abolishment of free speech and more worryingly, people arming and militarising. Is this the lowest in our society? The poorest? No. For the most part these are pseudo-intellectuals going to some of the top universities in the world. The people that should be the most knowledgeable about historical facts and the real historical oppressors, yet many idolise them and the systems they promoted. They are ignorant to the reasons why these systems failed, and in every instance so horribly without regard for human life.
Though it wasn’t horrible for everyone, it very much benefitted the inner parties, but this is definitely against the motto “For the Many, Not the Few”.
Their Utopia is unreachable. Why? Because it was flawed from the very beginning. The main idea that started it all makes the enslavement of its subjects inevitable. That idea was the abolishment of private property rights, for without the right for an individual to own property and labour, they don’t own themselves and their own labour. This means that a person is a subject to the desires of others and not themselves.
It has always started as the tyranny of the majority and ended as the tyranny of the inner party that they refuse they support but enable through the promotion of these ideas.
Though these people may shout from the hilltops about how they care about the rights of minorities, the only minority they don’t care about is the smallest minority and that is the minority of the individual.
Every statistic bares out the success of the Individualist ideas against the Collectivist. Just look at the difference between East and West Germany, the border of North and South Korea, or even what happens to a nation after the smallest introduction of freedom to their markets. For in the last two decades, the lifting of economic pressures has lifted over one billion people out of extreme poverty.
For it is not the fault of the market for those that currently live in extreme poverty, it is the economic burdens placed upon the citizens that keep them down. For the unquestionable right to own your own property and thus your own labour and the lowering of any barriers to participate in the market will continue to lift so many people out of poverty as it has done.
For now Western Civilization is the most prosperous the world has known, but that doesn’t mean we give up on the values that made it this way. Either by eliminating private property or opening the doors to anyone who wishes to come without going through the legal steps to be here. For mass migration solves nothing in the migrants native country of origin, and puts a huge strain on the hosts country's infrastructure as well as giving the lowest in our societies more competition for the limited resources.
I think everybody in the world would agree with me that every nation should thrive and everyone in that nation should thrive too. We don’t achieve that by having a mass relocation of a poorer countries citizens into another, but by exporting these ideas of individual rights and free markets that made Western Civilization so successful.
When presented with this information, why are people still so against these ideas?
Many of them are so stuck on the idea that an inequality of outcome must mean a structural inequality when this is not the case. True freedom to take the path that you desire doesn’t mean the outcome of each path will be the same, because not every path is equal. Some people will succeed and some people will fail, but failure isn’t always a bad thing. Both yourself and others will learn from your mistakes and society moves forward.
Not everyone is born equal. Some people are short, some people are tall, not everyone is born with the capacity to be a genius. But you live with the hand you're dealt and nothing can turn Peter Dinklage into a Basketball player.
With the unmatchable ability of the free market to lift people out of poverty, why do these people still believe it’s a system to scrap and be replaced with a system that has continuously never helped the people of which it purports to help? This is because they have a higher interest in bringing down the richest in society, then helping the poorest.
